The NBA draft is always a fun time of the year. This year we have yet another situation where there is a clear cut top 2 picks, but still some indecision in who should be chosen first. Last year it was Greg Oden and Kevin Durant. Looks like after one year Durant might have been the better pick, but we won't really know much until after Oden gets healthy again.
This year the big question is Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose? Most of the mock drafts I see everyone has Rose going first. I just don't really get that. I think the two players are pretty much right around the same talent level and the bulls already have a PG. So why not go with the big guy where they are hurting for points in the paint like the bulls are? Rose is going to be great, Beasley is going to be great so I think it comes down to what type of players you can put around them. All the really good point guards didn't get really good. Chris Paul didn't become a star until Tyson Chandler and David West started to be great. Steve Nash wasn't great until he had Amare and Shawn around him. Jason Kidd wasn't anything in Dallas or Phoenix. It wasn't until he got to NJ with K-mart and Richard Jefferson.
I think the consensus is that Rose will go number one, but I just don't think that is the right pick for the bulls. So if it goes down tomorrow just as it is expect I will be just a tad bit surprised.
As for my Suns, we have the 15th pick in the draft. It looks like we will go with Brandon Rush if he is still on the board. I like that pick for sure, we need help at the 3 and we need a player that is ready to play now. The championship window is closing very quickly. Hopefully the lovely Mr. Morad won't' decide to sell this one off.
